1857 English Gold (EF) RMS Douro Sovereign  | THIS COIN IS TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE.
1857 Victoria shieldback full sovereign purportedly from the wreck of RMS Douro, which sank in April, 1882 and was salvaged in 1996. A copy of the Certificate of Authenticity is available. RMS Douro was built in 1865 at Greenock, Scotland, and was one of the ships of the Royal Mail Fleet sailing between South America, and Britain, via Portugal. The Douro floundered carrying an estimated 53,000 British & Portuguese coins.
